Character book picks, Cassie from The Vision

Today I have with me Jen Nadol author of The Mark and The Vision. To talk about Cassie’s favorite books!

Cassie’s a thinker by nature, but faced with the “gift” and decisions she has to make, gravitates toward the dark and serious….

Firestarter by Stephen King. She’s a big fan of Stephen King and this story about a little girl with a dangerous power she doesn’t know how to use would have a special place in her heart.

White Oleander by Janet Fitch – A great story about a young girl forced to grow up too fast when her mother’s choices leave her basically on her own. Like Cassie.

Atonement or Saturday by Ian McEwan. Morose books with themes that would fascinate Cassie - the effect of bad choices and what can happen in a day to completely change a life.

On the Beach by Nevil Shute. Nuclear war has happened on the other side of the globe and it’s only a matter of time before radiation drifts to Australia - where the story is set - obliterating life. The story is about what people do when they know death is imminent.

And finally…

The Boyfriend List by E. Lockhart. Because when you spend a chunk of your time dealing with death like Cassie does, sometimes you just want to lighten up. This book was fun!
