Kick A** Saturdays

Hi everyone I hope you are having a great holiday season!

So I have noticed that there are a lot of Kick A** characters in YA literature and so I have decided to spotlight them! Each week on Saturday I will do a post dedicated to one specific YA character that will describe why they are kick ass. At the end of each month I will post a poll where you can vote for which character you think is the most kick ass. This poll will be open for a week. After a year (or until I run out whichever comes first) I will do a poll with all of the winners of the different months (along with their posts) and whoever wins that one will be the ultimate winner! Sounds fun right?

Wren finds herself drawn to Gabriel, who is so much more alive than the ghost of the boy she loved. But Wren can’t turn her back on Danny or the choice she made for him—and she realizes she must find a way to make things right, even if it means breaking her own heart.

Review:

This book was really different, I mean it’s paranormal but its also about dealing with consequences of your actions. It’s also about dealing with loss, and letting go.

Zombies and witches. Those are the paranormal creatures in this book, I was not aware that is what this book was about, but it makes sense now that I know. Wren is a hardcore witch with spells and growing into her powers etc.. So if you don’t like that kind of thing then this is not the book for you.

This book was ok, I mean its nothing like what I expected so I think that threw me for a loop at the beginning. But while it interested me I was not captivated, I was interested to see how the problem was going to be solved but honestly I would not have cared if I never knew. It was just so-so.

The main problem I had was with Wren. She just annoyed me, I mean I could see why she did it, but I feel like she was very selfish and then after she realized what she had done was wrong she wasn’t really willing to suck it up and fix her mistake. She was just very wishy washy, and primarily only thought of herself.

I loved Gabriel though, he was so sweet and was willing to help Wren even when, in my opinion, she didn’t really deserve it or thank him properly.

Overall I didn’t really like this book, it just wasn’t for me, though if you want a different take on zombies then I would recommend it.
